Privacy, in plain language.

Barline is designed to organize your menu bar locally, without an account, analytics, advertising, or uploading a menu bar inventory.

On your Mac

Layouts, preferences, search metadata, and recovery state stay on your Mac. Accessibility is used to inspect or arrange other apps’ menu bar items. Optional Screen & System Audio Recording access enables item-image previews. Permission is requested when a feature needs it, not simply to open Settings.

Release builds may contact the signed update feed. External links open only when you choose them. A support bundle is generated locally for your review; it is not automatically sent to us.

On this website

The site contains no analytics scripts, advertising, tracking pixels, embedded payment form, or third-party fonts. Cloudflare Pages serves the site and necessarily processes technical request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect it. This is different from analytics inside the app.

See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its processing practices.

Optional contributions

Optional one-time contributions open on Stripe’s hosted checkout and support Mabry Ventures LLC. No payment or subscription is required to use Barline.

Stripe processes the payment information you provide. Mabry Ventures LLC can access transaction details through Stripe, such as your contact information, contribution amount, payment status, and limited payment-method information. The Barline app and this website do not collect full card numbers or security codes, and payment status never unlocks features.

See Stripe’s privacy policy for its handling of checkout information.

Getting help

You can report an issue on GitHub. Issues are public: please do not include passwords, payment details, personal menu bar contents, or unreviewed screenshots. Vulnerability reports should follow our security reporting guidance.
